Introduction:
Whereas the freedom of the press is a fundamental pillar of democracy, ensuring transparency, accountability, and the dissemination of information to the citizens,Whereas it is imperative to safeguard the rights of the citizens of Iris to express themselves freely and to have access to diverse sources of information,
Whereas the government recognizes the importance of maintaining an independent and impartial press,
Whereas it is essential to distinguish between government-sanctioned news services and independent press outlets,
Be it enacted by the Parliament of Iris:
Objective:
The citizens of Iris shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression, including the freedom of the press, without interference from the government or any other entity.No law shall be enacted to abridge the freedom of the press or to restrict the establishment of independent press outlets.
Scope:
This is aimed to provide the right of a free press establishment for all citizens who wish to participate.Key Provisions:
Section 1: Establishment of Independent Press OutletsThe government shall not interfere with the establishment, operation, or management of independent press outlets within Iris.
Independent press outlets may be established by citizens or organizations without prior approval from the government.
Section 2: Government-Run Press
The government shall establish a government-run press outlet called the Iris News Service (INS), which shall serve as the official source of news and information for the citizens of Iris.
The Iris News Service shall be solely used by the government for the dissemination of official Iris news, including announcements, reports, and other relevant information.
The Iris News Service shall not be utilized for campaigning, promoting political agendas, or disseminating information not sanctioned for the region of Iris.
The Iris News Service shall maintain impartiality, accuracy, and integrity in its reporting, adhering to professional journalistic standards.
Section 3: Protection of Press Freedom
The government shall take all necessary measures to ensure the safety, security, and independence of independent press outlets operating within Iris.
Any attempt by the government or any other entity to interfere with the freedom of the press shall be considered a violation of this Act and subject to legal consequences.
